COAF will return in 2022

It’s with considerable regret that we must announce the cancellation of Colorado Anime Fest 2021.

Last year, when we announced our intent to return in 2021, we did so believing it would be possible to safely put on a large event like COAF. Unfortunately, that assumption turned out to be too optimistic. Given the current COVID-19 situation, we can’t safely—or, for that matter, legally—hold COAF as intended in March.

The good news is that, thanks to our amazing attendees who rolled over their badges last year, we’ll be able to survive another year and bring back COAF in spring 2022. We’re in the final stages of contract negotiations with the Denver Marriott Tech Center and we’ll be able to announce our scheduled dates as soon as we have a signed contract. Pre-registration for COAF 2022 will open later this year.

While we may not know exactly what the world will look like come spring of next year, it’s currently expected that COVID-19 vaccinations will be available to everyone this summer. As a result, we believe that we’ll be able to run Colorado Anime Fest safely in spring 2022 while still providing an enjoyable convention experience. Doing so could require making some changes to COAF, but we won’t know what some of those changes might be until we can learn from the examples of other conventions that return before we do.

We’re gutted that we’ve been sidelined for the second year in a row, but rest assured that COAF will be back and that we’ll rise to meet the challenges ahead of us. We look forward to seeing you all again next year.

Rollovers and Refunds

All badges will roll over to COAF 2022 automatically; you don’t need to do anything if you want to join us next year. Rolling over your badge is also the single best way you can help Colorado Anime Fest. It ensures that we can do more than just return; it means that we can put on a show that lives up to the standards you’ve come to expect from us.

The benefits of rolling over that we announced last year still apply: if you spent over $35 on a weekend badge, you’ll receive a coupon at the convention for the difference in price. And if you bought a single-day badge, it’ll automatically be upgraded to a full weekend badge.

We’ll open our refund window once we announce our dates for spring 2022.
