Volunteer

Colorado Anime Fest can’t exist without its dedicated staff and volunteers. They all work tirelessly at the convention and many of them work throughout the year to put on the best show possible.

Staff

Everything you see and do at Colorado Anime Fest requires a dedicated team of volunteers working together behind the scenes to make it happen. We call the most dedicated of these volunteers “staff,” and they form the foundation of the entire convention. We simply couldn’t exist without them.

Our staff members work hard to help make COAF possible, and we work hard to make sure our staff has a great time during the convention and is appreciated for their efforts. To that end, we offer generous staff perks that are improving every year.

They include:

  • a free badge to attend the convention;

  • a complimentary shared hotel room—or a solo room discount—for Thursday through Saturday nights

  • free meals plus snacks and drinks in the Staff Suite;

  • an invitation to the end-of-con “Dead Dog” party;

  • and an exclusive staff T-shirt.

Staff members are required to adhere to all convention guidelines and to work at least 16 hours over the course of the weekend. Prospective staff members must be at least 18 years old before the convention begins on March 20, 2026.

We are always looking for General Staff, in addition we are looking to fill some specific roles:

Photography, Line Control, Con Response, Main Events, Programming Desk, Video Gaming, Panel Support

Applications are open

Volunteers

Volunteers have a special function at Colorado Anime Fest. They help out during big events and they fill gaps in the schedule that we aren’t able to fill with full-time staff members. Because of this, volunteers have a lot of flexibility in when, how, and how much they’d like to work. And the longer they help out, the bigger their reward:

Time Worked Reward
5+ hours Access to Staff Suite, where staff members can relax off of the con floor and enjoy the provided snacks and drinks.
10+ hours Everything above, plus a free (mystery) COAF merch item.
15+ hours Everything above, plus entry to our after-con staff party. Come hang out and relax with COAF staff members. You’ll also get a free badge to Colorado Anime Fest for the next year. This will be given in the form of a redeemable coupon code you can use on our website. The best news is you can use this for you or a friend.

If you’d like to help out at Colorado Anime Fest but you aren’t sure how much time you have to lend a hand, consider becoming a volunteer. Just visit the Volunteer Desk during the convention or sign up below. You can find it in the hotel lobby, near Operations.

Volunteers must be at least 16 years old before the convention begins on March 20, 2026.

The Bullock Award

Every year, COAF’s senior staff chooses one staff member to receive our top honor in recognition of their extraordinary contributions.

We renamed this award in 2017 to the Bullock Award in honor of our friend and founding staff member Ben Bullock, who passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. Ben was also the convention’s DJ, and many of our staffers considered him a good friend.
