Announcing COAF 2022

In our announcement last month canceling Colorado Anime Fest 2021, we mentioned that we were in the final stages of contract negotiations for our 2022 convention. We’re pleased to announce today that we completed those negotiations and signed a contract.

Colorado Anime Fest will return to the Denver Marriott Tech Center on April 15–17, 2022. That’s Easter weekend, for anyone keeping track.

We’ll open pre-registration and our hotel block for COAF 2022 later in the year.

Our expectation is that by mid-April of next year, we’ll be able to provide a safe and enjoyable convention experience for our attendees, guests, vendors, artists, and staff. Not only is general access to the COVID-19 vaccine accelerating more quickly than originally expected, vaccine acceptance and uptake are providing some light at the end of the tunnel.

Because COVID-19 will almost certainly still be with us to some degree next year, we’ll have to make some changes to COAF. It’s still too early to say exactly what those changes will look like, but they may affect our policies, procedures, and perhaps how we conduct some of our events.

We’ll continue to listen to the science and follow the best practices as advised by the CDC and other public health authorities. We’ll also be paying close attention to the changes made by other events taking place before COAF 2022 and learning from their experiences. We’ll keep you updated on those changes as we get closer to the convention.

Rollovers

All badges will roll over to COAF 2022 automatically; you don’t need to do anything if you want to join us next year. Rolling over your badge is also the single best way you can help Colorado Anime Fest. It ensures that we can do more than just return; it means that we can put on a show that lives up to the standards you’ve come to expect from us.

The benefits of rolling over that we announced last year still apply: if you spent over $35 on a weekend badge, you’ll receive a coupon at the convention for the difference in price. And if you bought a single-day badge, it’ll automatically be upgraded to a full weekend badge.

Refunds

While we strongly encourage everyone to continue rolling over their badges and deeply appreciate everyone who does, we understand that not everyone can. So we’re reopening our no-questions-asked refund window, from now until April 18, 2021.

If you need a refund on your pre-registered badge from COAF 2020, just send an e-mail to registration@coanimefest.com. Please include your name and Eventbrite confirmation number to ensure a prompt refund. We’ll provide refunds for the badge price using Zelle, PayPal, or Venmo, so be sure to also include the username or e-mail address for your account with your preferred service.

Unfortunately, because we can no longer do direct refunds through Eventbrite back to your original payment method, we’re unable to provide refunds for the fees that Eventbrite charged.

Please allow for up to a week to receive a response. Payment speed varies by service, so while most payments should clear within a few days, please allow for up to two weeks to receive your refund once your request has been processed.

Artists and Vendors

Last month, we e-mailed all artists and vendors that purchased tables or booths for COAF 2020 with information about rolling over to 2022. If you haven’t received an e-mail about your table or booth from COAF 2020, please check your inbox or spam folder. Otherwise, send an e-mail vendors@coanimefest.com or artists@coanimefest.com.
