Free badges for Marshall Fire victims

COAF is offering free, full-weekend passes to families displaced by the recent Marshall Fire. Apply now!

I’m Jinnie, one of COAF’s directors. And my story isn’t that different from my fellow 21,000 residents of Louisville, CO. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, was just a normal day until lunchtime, when the clear blue sky suddenly turned black. In the span of just a few minutes, hurricane-speed winds carried the most destructive fire in state history to my community. I will never forget what it was like to see two different subdivisions become engulfed in flames as I evacuated. I drove through the fire with a very unhappy cat to escape, struggling to navigate in near-zero visibility while slowly realizing there was a high probability I was about to lose everything—and so was everyone else in my city.

Somehow, in the end, I was one of the lucky ones; I got to go home. Since then, I’ve been busy volunteering and doing what I can to help with recovery. But I want to do more, and I’m hoping COAF will provide a fun distraction for victims of the fire. If that’s you, apply today and I’ll send further instructions your way!

If you’re a member of a local neighborhood group, you likely saw this earlier in the month. In which case, your application has already been received and you don’t need to re-apply.

Thank for your reading, and I look forward to seeing my neighbors in April!
